Preparation
Preparation is key, as with everything in life. Upon arriving at the boat, we gave ourselves a week to prepare and ensure we had everything needed. We planned for 40 days of food and water, though we estimated the journey would take only 25 days at most. Better safe than sorry. After purchasing and storing all supplies, we sailed from Gran Canaria to Tenerife to explore the island for a day.
The following day, we visited La Gomera, where we enjoyed a quick hike to stretch our legs before heading to Cabo Verde. With favorable weather conditions, we set sail for Cabo Verde the next day.

Off to Cabo Verde
This was my first extended sea passage on a sailing boat. My stomach made its opinion known during my first night watch, forcing me to reconsider my meal choices. Thankfully, this was the only time I truly felt seasick throughout the journey. Our seven-day trip to Cabo Verde helped us adjust to life at sea, and we all got along wonderfully. A constant foggy haze—likely Sahara dust, though we weren't certain—accompanied our passage. This mysterious atmosphere made discovering Cabo Verde particularly magical, as the island slowly materialized from the dusty horizon like something out of a pirate movie.

Off we go
After leaving Cabo Verde, the real excitement began. We had approximately 18 days ahead of us with nothing but blue horizon. This journey was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life—something I'll always be grateful for. It was truly a humbling adventure, and I hope to do it again someday. I documented the entire journey with pictures and video below, if you're interested in seeing how it went.
